Why attend a photo walk?
Maybe you are just starting out with photography as a hobby. Photo walks are informal. There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to photo walk. It’s a good excuse to practice photography for a couple hours. The people that attend are usually a mix of experienced and novice photographers. This is the 8th Photo walk in Bismarck Mandan and they tend to be great places to ask questions of each other and see how other local photography enthusiasts work. You can spend most of the time roaming around alone or you can buddy up.
Maybe you are a seasoned photographer. Photo walks are great places to share your knowledge, meet people with similar interests and maybe make a friend. No matter how long I’ve been into photography, I can always learn something new by talking to others.
The important focus of photo walks is the people. Photography is typically a solo activity. This is an easy way to meet others into photography, talk, take photos side-by-side.
These are family-friendly events. Bring a friend, bring your child. Bring your grandchild. It’s a great way to introduce them to the world of photography. All cameras and photographers are welcome. You can do the entire walk with just your phone if you want.
At the end of the photo walk, submit your best photo on the site. A winner from the Bismarck/Mandan photo walk will be selected. The rules are simple:
- You may only submit one photo
- Collages aren’t allowed as they are technically more than one photo
- Photos must be taken during the walk(not before or after)
Entering the contest is not a requirement. It is just a fun addition to the walk.
